Dubai TV is an Emirati general-interest television channel owned by Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI). Very popular in the Arab world, it mixes series, game shows, oriental varieties, cartoons and news bulletins. Major sports and political events in the UAE are often broadcast live. It would be the second in terms of advertising revenue after MBC. Dubai TV began broadcasting in 1979 under the name Emirates Dubai Television. In 1995, it began transmitting by satellite in Europe, then in North America. Officially renamed Dubai TV in June 2004, it is gradually extending its reach to Asia and Australia. It is accessible by air and cable in the United Arab Emirates, and by satellite (formerly analogue, now digital), cable and ADSL in the rest of the world.
